Reaching, Teaching, and Coaching: Working with Families of Infants and Toddlers with Multiple Disabilities and/or Sensory Impairments - 013551
This workshop is designed to support Parent Advisors, Teachers of Students with Visual Impairments, and Orientation and Mobility Instructors who support families of children (ages birth-to-three years) with sensory impairments (i.e. auditory or visual impairments or deafblind) and multiple disabilities. Participants will understand the benefit of coaching techniques, explore strategies to promote language and concept development, and examine the importance of touch and bonding for multiply disabled children and their families. A simple make-and-take activity that can be shared with families to promote motor, language, and concept development will be incorporated into the training. This will be a face-to-face session only.
