Grade 3 Literacy Achievement Academy - 005315
Grade 3 teachers from eligible schools will learn effective and explicit instructional strategies to support student mastery of the TEKS in English/Spanish Language Arts and Reading and the English Language Proficiency Standards (ELPS). Teachers will collaborate in hands-on activities and learn how to integrate into their daily reading and writing instruction specific research-based strategies for the five components of reading instruction (Phonological Awareness, Phonics, Vocabulary, Fluency, and Comprehension). Strategies to differentiate instruction to meet the needs of English language learners and students who are struggling with reading will be explored along with ways to use assessment information to make instructional decisions. Upon successful completion, eligible grade 3 teachers will receive a stipend. See prerequisite section below for important information.

Prerequisite/Special Notes This academy is only for grade 3 teachers at campuses on the 2016 or 2017 Region 11 List of Priority Campuses posted at http://tea.texas.gov/Curriculum/Academies/. Principals should have the registration password and because seating is limited, principals are asked to prioritize which teachers should attend.
