Claim, Evidence, and Reasoning - Mini Course - 006259
The skills of analyzing information, pulling out important details, and forming reasonable conclusions are all tasks where many students struggle. One format where students of any grade level can practice this is through Claim, Evidence, and Reasoning. Often CER is perceived to be part of laboratory activities, but is can also be used with many daily science components such as data tables, graphs, images, speeches, and many more. In this blended three-hour session, teachers will experience CER connected to components such as the ones mentioned. Additionally, teachers will evaluate student work to practice identifying the components of CER and practice providing informative feedback for all students, including GT, Special Education and ELLs . Option for an additional 3 hrs of CPE for teachers who wish to collaborate in the afternoon and prepare activities for the 2017-2018 school year.
