The Lone Star Literacy Institute, Grades Kindergarten and 1st - 010806
The Lone Star Literacy Institute for Grades kindergarten and 1st is a learning experience designed for classroom teachers to assist them with implementing the workshop model for literacy instruction. During day one of the institute, participants will step into the shoes of a student, experiencing high-impact literacy instruction through the eyes of a child. Continuing through day two, attendees will learn how to teach brief, focused mini-lessons, provide responsive small group instruction, and empower learners to engage in purposeful independent practice. Throughout the institute, teachers will have an opportunity to dive deep - unpacking, researching and self-selecting learning paths designed to meet individual needs. Ongoing, online learning opportunities will be offered. Teachers will also be provided one face-to-face and one virtual coaching session. Please bring a laptop or tablet

Prerequisite/Special Notes * If you are a teacher of FWISD CISD NWISD EISD HEBISD GCISD EMSISD please do not register -call your literacy dept.

Teachers are the target audience for this workshop. If instructional leaders or district literacy coaches intend to replicate this training in your district, plan for working lunches and extended hours on all days of the institute. ESC staff will facilitate a debrief and Q&A designed to assist instructional leaders.
