Implementing Effective Mathematics Teaching Practices: Emphasis on Problem Solving for Grades 3-5 - 012182
This course is a blended learning opportunity in which participants will: complete two short introductory modules in Canvas, meet for one face-to-face session where they will experience explicit opportunities to practice specific strategies for success in the classroom, and complete a final module that includes implementing strategies in their classroom and completing online discussions and reflections. The learner will engage in collaborative critical thinking and problem-solving in order to design a task that builds on students' prior knowledge, targets possible student misconceptions, and incorporates questioning techniques that provoke thought and discussion. This session is designed to highlight pedagogies that align the T-TESS Rubric in the areas of Knowledge of Students 1.3, Activities 1.4, and Communication 2.
