Just Book It!: Creating a Print-Rich Environment for Students with Low-Incidence Disabilities - 012516
Students with low-incidence disabilities access grade-level content through prerequisite skills. This session would not be appropriate for teachers of students who access grade-level content through accommodations and/or modifications. The use of symbol-supported text is a high-yield, research-based strategy for providing access to grade-level content to students with significant cognitive disabilities (ages 3-adult) who are pre-emergent or emergent readers. In this interactive onsite and online blended learning experience, participants will be introduced to adapted print materials and the research supporting access through symbol-supported print materials. Participants will also be given websites of digital resources to create a grade-level classroom library. 6 CEUs will be earned by attending the onsite session. Up to 6 additional CEUs can be earned by completing the online course.
