Minding the Gap: Being Intentional about Equity, Achievement, and Opportunity - 009435
Dr. Tyrone Howard, author of Why Race and Culture Matters in Schools, will address meaningful practices, policies, and procedures that school teachers, counselors, and leaders can utilize in eradicating achievement and opportunity gaps that plague many low-income students and students of color. Following the opening session, participants will have an opportunity to ask questions as well as participate in a book signing. Participants are also invited to a bonus breakout session, "Leading the Way: Getting the Conversation Started for Literacy Improvement, after the opening session. If you are a visionary who wants to improve the equity of achievement outcome and increase expectations for all students, especially in literacy, this session is for you. These sessions are free to ESC Region 11 districts, and the first 100 attendees will receive Dr. Howard's book.
