G/T 6-Hour Update: Reaching Overlooked and Underserved Populations - Elementary - 014496
Equity exists in a program when the various population groups are reflected in the same proportions as they are represented in the larger population. Students come from all socioeconomic backgrounds, yet current research indicates that students from lower income or minority groups are less likely to be identified and properly placed in G/T services. Texas is a wonderfully diverse state where more than 120 languages are spoken. With linguistic differences come cultural differences. This training is designed to help teachers become more aware of cultural differences to improve the identification of giftedness in diverse populations.
