Teaching Students Self-Determination Skills - 014682
The purpose of this project is to increase student self-determination skills that will assist them with setting goals, making plans, and improving communication skills. Participating educators will gain knowledge, skills, and strategies for teaching goal setting, assisting students with expressing goals, and taking action to reach those goals. This workshop will focus on the importance of self-determination as a critical set of skills for school and post-school success. Educators will learn about online and paper/pencil assessments that have ample validity evidence to assess critical self-determination skills as part of each student's transition assessment battery. In addition, they will learn and explore no-cost, evidence-based materials to teach students critical skills. Participating educators will have an opportunity to receive after-hours virtual coaching and a stipend.

Audiences Charter School Personnel, Teacher - High School (Grades 9-12), Teacher - Middle School (Grades 6-8), Transition Specialists to Transition Personnel, VAC (Vocational Adjustment Coordinators), Coordinators, Counselors, Paraprofessionals, Teacher - Special Education
